AUSTRALIA RACING – Best Bets March 4th

FLEMINGTON – RACE 2

No. 2 Heatherly

Heatherly has a clear class edge over the rest of this field and she may never have a better chance to return to winning form. 1000 metres is her pet trip and if she is able to repeat her performance from the Black Caviar Lightning Stakes she will be very tough to beat. Anything better than even money is over the odds.

G1 AUSTRALIAN GUINEAS

Hey Doc (4) was dominant winning the G3 CS Hayes Stakes (1400m) here last start and he maps to get every possible chance from barrier two. He was impressive winning over this trip when 3rd-up last campaign before finishing 3rd (beaten 0.7L) behind Divine Prophet in the G1 Caulfield Guineas. He’s pretty bombproof this McEvoy gelding because he puts himself in the race early, whereas a lot of his main rivals in this are sluggish beginners who have to rely on tempo/luck. It’s hard to see the horses he beat comfortably at this track last start turning the tables on him here.

SPEED MAP

ROYAL RANDWICK – RACE 6 3:30PM AEDT

No. 7 English

English won the Challenge Stakes last year and there is no reason that she can’t win the race again. Her recent barrier trials have been excellent and suggests that she is back to her best after failing to fire during the spring. She is unbeaten over 1000 metres and she absolutely flies first-up.
