AUSTRALIA RACING – March 12 Best Bets

BEST BET – FLEMINGTON R6 N6 JAPONISME $4.20

Drops to 52.5kg’s after the Lightning. Has a very similar profile to last years winner and Cinderella story Brazen Beau. Proved his Coolmore Stud Stakes win was no fluke and has a genuine liking for the Flemington straight. Chatauqa is a star, but Japonisme gets in 2.5kg better at the weights after a narrow defeat.

COOLMORE CLASSIC TIP – AZKADELLIA (Rosehill – Race 7 No. 7): It’s hard to back anything to beat Ciaron Maher’s four-year-old mare considering the form she displayed in the spring and what she’s already done during the autumn. Comes here in winning form, has drawn ideally and gets in on 53kg. It’s her first go at Rosehill and we suspect she’ll be better suited at Randwick but the value is there at $5. From 11 career starts she’s finished in the quinella on nine occasions – that’s consistency.

VALUE BET – HURSLEY (Rosehill – Race 4 No. 9) Chris Waller is putting the blinkers on three-year-old colt Hursley for the first time on Saturday and if they can improve him by the slightest of margins he will be winning. Claimed a $150,000 event at Flemington during the spring carnival when up to 1800m and gets out to the 1900m this campaign third-up off a spell. Carries 53kg in a race lacking depth and in-form hoop Brenton Avdulla jumps aboard. There has been enough money about to suggest the blinkers will do the trick so get on at the early $10!
