Belmont Stakes, Draw, Odds & Winner

With Epicharis scratched from the Belmont Stakes on Saturday morning, which horse will get the support from bettors who might have backed the Japanese colt, which was the second-favorite in the morning line?

While Irish War Cry remains the betting favorite at 4-1 in updated odds at 10 a.m. CDT Saturday, the odds have dropped on seven of the 11 horses in the past hour.

Twisted Tom went from 9-1 to 7-1, Tapwrit from 6-1 to 5-1, J Boys Echo from 12-1 to 10-1, Hollywood Handsome from 20-1 to 18-1, Meantime from 16-1 to 14-1, Multiplier from 15-1 to 14-1 and Patch from 14-1 to 11-1.

The only horse with longer odds now than it had one hour ago is Gormley, which went from 7-1 to 9-1.

Hollywood Handsome remains the longest shot in the field at only 18-1.

The post positions and updated betting odds for the 149th Belmont Stakes include:

1. Twisted Tom 7-1

2. Tapwrit 5-1

3. Gormley 9-1

4. J Boys Echo 10-1

5. Hollywood Handsome 18-1

6. Lookin At Lee 5-1

7. Irish War Cry 4-1

8. Senior Investment 6-1

9. Meantime 14-1

10. Multiplier 14-1

12. Patch 11-1

THE WINNER

1 Twisted Tom – It’s been a wild ride this Triple Crown season, so why not pick some value in the Belmont Stakes? His Pedigree SCREAMS Belmont Stakes winner; his damsire, Thunder Gulch, won this race (and the Kentucky Derby) in 1995, while his sire’s sire, Giant’s Causeway, finished second in the 2000 Breeders’ Cup Classic. Also, it doesn’t hurt having Chad Brown and Javier Castellano on your side. Twisted Tom has pointed towards this race for a while now, and last time out at Laurel Park, he seemed to put everything together in a big way and picked up a nice stakes victory. This is going to be a big step up for him, but expect him to outrun his odds in a big way while also having a legit shot when turning for home. Outstanding each way value and this has been his main target this campaign, look for him to be fit and running over the top of them.
