GOLDEN SLIPPER DAY BEST BETS

GOLDEN SLIPPER BEST BET – FLYING ARTIE $6

The Pace in this year’s Golden Slipper is set to be a cracker with Scarlet Rain (wide draw), Astern (outside draw), Kiss And Make Up (mid draw), Good Standing (mid draw), Extreme Choice (mid-draw) and Capitalist (inside draw) all set to push forward for a predominant position. That’s six of the 16 pushing forward which should ensure the pace and pressure is on from the outset. The majority of speed has drawn wide too so that should guarantee the pressure goes on.
With that in mind Mick Price’s colt has the form on the board and the colts have been dominant this season. Flying Artie finished an unlucky second behind stablemate and Golden Slipper favourite Extreme Choice in the Blue Diamond (1200m) and I’m confident to go with that form and look to find him storming over the top of them late.

ROSEHILL GUINEAS BEST BET – JAMEKA $8

The only filly taking on the boys and she scored the visitor’s alley drawing 14 of 14. But on our speedmap there doesn’t look too much pace drawn underneath her so Damien Oliver should be able to slide across and take up a forward position. With her main dangers likely to drift back and rely on luck in running, Jameka is hopefully free-rolling with a full head of steam when they straighten. Physically she won’t lose anything against the boys and she proved in the spring that she can beat all-comers. The $8 is great EW value.

VALUE BET – R3 N2 COUNTERATTACK $7

Was a late scratching from the Newmarket last week. 42-days between runs since placing in the Eskimo Prince resuming. Very good trial at Rosehill and outstanding EW value at $7.
