Super Saturday of Racing at Saratoga awaits racing enthusiasts this weekend. Highlighted by the Group 1 $1 million Runhappy Travers Stakes which for the first and probably last time ever, the Travers will serve as a Kentucky Derby prep event, with 100 Derby points awarded to the winner, 40 for second, 20 for third, and 10 for fourth. The field boasts the presence of Belmont Stakes (G1) winner Tiz the Law and Bob Baffert’s up-and-comer Uncle Chuck makes this race very exciting.
The Travers will share the race card with four other stakes events, including the Ballerina (G1) (a Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” for the Filly and Mare Sprint), the Longines Test (G1), the Troy (G3), and the Waya (G3). And, we’re off:

Travers Stakes Group 1 Preview and Best Bet
Tiz the law on paper is the best 3 year old in America after cruising to an easy win in the 1st leg of the triple crown winning the Belmont Stakes. He will jump the 1/1 odds on favorite and rightfully so after winning 3 for 3 this season. Tiz the law will retain the services of regular jockey Manny Fracno.
Insert the Bob Baffert trained Uncle Chuck, who is unbeaten in his career at a perfect 2-for-2 record. The Baffert trained colt dominated his competition in the Los Alamitos Derby (G3), winning by 4 lengths under wraps. Luis Saez will once again be aboard while breaking from post 3.
Tiz the Law and Uncle Chuck are the clear top 2 for me. The winner comes down to upside. Whilst its very hard to tip against the form of Tiz the Law, the upside and the value is with Uncle Chuck. Trainer Bob Baffert has openly compared him to former champion Arrogate.
On form he beat Thousand Words by 4 lengths in the Los Alamitos Derby (G3) – that horse just went on to win last weekend’s Shared Belief Stakes. In both his starts he has been very green and has a lot of upside moving forward.
